Alright place to work if you don’t care.
Pros
My compensation was reasonable. Coworkers were generally friendly.
Cons
Mid-level management was generally inept. Classic example of failing upwards. There is a total lack of commitment to excellence in their analyses and physical product, driven by a desire to minimize cost. More of “checkbox” mentality to their work. Management doesn’t know what they want, frequently had projects dramatically re-scoped during execution. Mid level management was irrationally fearful of their managers, making ridiculous adjustments to presentations and analysis to appease senior management. The company has lack of technical expertise and educational resources. Program managers have the final say on most things. This leads to engineering being unable to execute their suggested plan and the inevitable issues that arise later on in integration when you do not put in the effort and rigor early on. There was not a clear path for career advancement aside from being a manager of people. Many people at the company do not seem to understand the criticality of the products they work on. The success of military missions and the safety of the warfighter depends on the work this company does. You’d think they were making low end consumer electronics based on the manner in which they conduct themselves. 401k match only happens twice a year. Human Resources conveniently doesn’t mention this. I did not feel my work was appreciated.
