Pros

Leybold North America has a forward thinking president with modern ideas in an antiquated manufacturing industry. He operates with an "open door" policy and transparent communication and treats everyone as equals. With the right effort, there are many opportunities to pitch ideas without going through the political/hierarchical pipeline - nothing is handed to you. Employees are openly encouraged to try new technologies and methods, present new ideas and communicate with all departments and members of staff. The marketing department has moved mountains in the last 2 years and will continue to grow and evolve. It was exciting to be a part of new initiatives, build out corporate programs, have the opportunity to be creative with technical and sometimes dry topics and gain global recognition and access to high level executives. Current PA office is outdated and drab, but will be moving into a new building in 2020.

Cons

Unfortunately due to the longevity of some of the staff (30-40 years) there can be push back on these new ideas, which can then cause friction. Some people don't like change - but if you are a serious advocate and passionate about your cause this will be recognized and rewarded. However, thick skin is needed. Some departments are understaffed and while this certainly effects the company and it's customers as a whole, Marketing rarely feels the brunt. Negative customer feedback occurs regularly.

Pros

They work to achieve a good company culture. They try to be like a family but generally not too personal. They do a lot of things that prove that lower management cares about its employees.

Cons

Higher management is the problem. With Leybold owned by a massive corporation, higher management goes up very high and decisions are made at top levels that don't make sense to those below. They don't consult employees and decisions are made on a mass scale that poorly affect employees (like hiring freezes when positions need filled because one or two other locations are having a bad quarter).
