Pros

Pay was good, benefits good, vacation is OK- not the best. Nice HQ office. MOst poeple are nice. Some jobs get bonuses. Nice flexibility for sick days. Steady market commercially. Normally plenty of business travel.

Cons

Company does good job with managing external perceptions but has very old processes, systems, practices. Fair career progression and diversity levels are the lowest many have experienced, so it feels like lots of people leave & you feel the t3ension left behind. Seems like they blame workers a lot instead of giving them help with realistic workloads, tools, training, etc. The corporate meetings always have a profit focus and the company is heavily managed by European HQ. Also employees pay a big $ fine for chosing not to be vaccinated and theres little transprancy with corporate communication. With all jobs, I think everyone should dig beneath the surface and do research.

Pros

Pay was decent, but not great for the work asked of you. Good work/home life balance. Good opportunities for over time. Safety seemed to be a top priority.

Cons

Misleading job description when applying. Was told the job would consist of mainly cleaning around plant. But was expected to essentially be a heavy equipment operator without any increase in pay. Was unfamiliar with operating a forklift, and was told "this lever goes up and down, this one goes forward and back, have fun" by a supervisor expecting me to move pallets with actual tons of bagged limestone. Co workers were not welcoming or friendly. Lots of talking behind backs, and very clique-y. Not only between employees but also upper management. Was not expressly asked to work MANY hours of overtime, but was punished when you didn't. Supervisors were unwilling or unable to make sure employees were trained correctly. I witnessed many employees be let go due to job performance issues that were solely caused by the supervisors inability to train them. The responsibility to become trained was left to the employees themselves, and when you're dealing with heavy equipment and hundreds of tons of limestone...well, you get the picture. New employees were earning more than employees who had been there several years, which caused animosity between co workers. Also, very little compassion for family issues or medical issues. Was told "everyone has problems, that doesn't mean you cant show up for work" after my fiance and I had lost our unborn child. Unless you had COVID-19 you were expected to show up for work and deal with any sickness that arose. Including bronchitis and pneumonia.
