Pros

Training is excellent. Make sure that you find out what the top sales reps in your office are doing to gain business and then mimic it. The benefits are great!

Cons

Sitting in a cubicle! If you don't know what you are doing or if you aren't motivated and entreprenurial, you won't enjoy this job, or make money.

Pros

Good starting pay, good raises the first year

Cons

After the first year of raises they fell off, and now I am getting "cost-of-living/inflation" raises rather than performance raises. There is very little movement between departments, I tried to make a switch to underwriting and was not even given an interview, despite being halfway through the CPCU.

Pros

Ability to work out of my home. Good 401k plan, company match was always satisfactory. More then adequate flex time off.

Cons

Pay was below that of other insurance companies for the title and responsabilities. Communications were very poor, intimidation by managment for speaking up resulted in dead air time during conference calls. Billable hours required to meet expectations forces employees to be dishonest in reporting time. If one took their vacation time, they would have to come up with those hours for billing purposes, thus this was time "charged" against an account. Top management in Boston, meaning the underwriting, sales, and administartation appears to view the Loss Control Department as a somewhat necessary evil. Management protects it own and the greed is evident by upper management. Promotion is rare in the Loss Control Department with nowhere to advance to unless you are invited into the management club. In order to attain this level, you must be unable to perfrom the technical work, but like singing the Liberty song and drink the coolaid. This will not protect you though, they will still eat their own when necessary to protect themselves. Liberty also likes to throw you overboard in high seas, and tossing you a corragated PFD so the ship can sail on in good conscience.
