Pros

Food brings people together, and at Lidl US we are working to improve our relationship with it -- the quality, the price, the convenience, and the way we shop for it. My experience at Lidl has been nothing short of outstanding: Great colleagues. Challenging projects. A company that invests in you professionally. Good work-life balance. Lidl US is truly a place where you can make a difference: we have big ambitions and are just getting started. I feel fortunate to have this opportunity and to be involved right now.

Cons

We're just starting our engines and are building and learning as we grow. It's as much an opportunity as it is a challenge, but for those of us who like to see the fruits of our labor, we don't yet have any stores. I can't wait to actually shop in them!

Pros

The company has great pay and stellar benefits. They even have a benefit for IVF. They offer 6 months of job-protected parental leave, and if you've been there over a year and are a birth parent you get 100% of pay for 8 weeks plus your short-term disability.

Cons

Fortunately, I had a manager that would protect their team but the company is very unorganized. They implement and change policy on a whim and expect everyone to fall in line immediately and execute all the changes to perfection. The demand is extremely high. There is no work-life balance. You have to be EXTREMELY detail oriented because people will use what you say in emails against you. It's best to just copy and paste from the policy to provide people with answers. You just never know who is going to through you under the bus and for what. Even if it has nothing to do with you.

Pros

- Provided you work for a good manager, getting promoted quickly is possible. - Most of my department was great to work with and for, especially my directors. - I got great hands-on problem solving experience which looks great on a resume but it was because there were so many fires being put out constantly.

Cons

First, the high turnover of executive/senior leadership is not a strong indicator that this company has a clear vision to anyone but the CEO himself. The excessive documentation, memos, and inconsistency between reporting stand in the way of actual work getting done due to arguments between management of different departments about who is more correct. The reason being promoted quickly is easy is due to the fact that there is so much turnover that if you stay beyond 1 year you are considered an “expert” in your role. Some people promoted to Management have no business being managers. Luckily, I was only stuck with a terrible manager for several months but in that time I sought professional psychiatric help because of how much stress she caused me. I did not consider Lidl a bad place to work until I had that manager and ultimately it pushed me to leave.
