Pros

Good benefits and the provided offices are nice.

Cons

Lots of big promises, very little follow through. Unreliable staff, frequent billing and insurance claim mistakes that affect clients and providers, payroll mistakes, unhelpful HR team, and they do not fill caseload like they say.

Pros

Totally flexible scheduling, intake fills up initial assessment spots quickly with new clients, EHR is easy to use, they have paid parental leave, access to free CEUs (but only through CEUs4less website…. They don’t reimburse for CEUs elsewhere), solid level of clinical support & supervision when needed, no micromanaging

Cons

Giving away 50% of my income to admin is painful. Especially when admin leaves a lot to be desired. It’s not the admin staff’s fault… I believe they are chronically understaffed but that’s been the excuse given to me for two years now. When a client no shows or late cancels and the therapist bills the appropriate fee, no action seems to be taken by admin to collect it. I have a constant long tally of unpaid fees from clients. And for giving 50% of my income to admin, I do not feel that it’s my responsibility to chase clients for those fees. The billing department is deplorable. Causes massive problems for clients all the time - sometimes causing clients to quit therapy altogether.

Pros

Payment system well connected with insurers.

Cons

Our clinic was acquired by Lifestance last year. Upon integration they rolled out weekly billing and consult minimums that required aggressive and questionable clinical practices (ie. expedited and cursory patient consultations, pushing patients for excessive follow-ups and unnecessary ongoing visits, etc.). It felt like a churn operation. I found this ethically dubious and not in the best interest of my patients. Several us left for these reasons. I understand the financial incentives but Lifestance is clearly taking it too far and needs to recalibrate its system of care.
