Pros

I worked in my career area, photography.

Cons

Low pay, low mileage reimbursement, backstabbing management, health benefits were astronomical, management power play, would take their time training you (if they even decided to train you), too much office politics, open door policy was a joke!

Pros

Love photographing everyday. Working with little kids. Loved the travel. The other photographers I work with are great, wonderful people. I love the hours. If waking up at 4am means I get home to my kids by 1 or 2, awesome! I loved working here, I didn't even mind much about the off seasons, because you can still get unemployment and do your own photography on the side to make ends meet.

Cons

THEY TOOK AWAY OUR MILEAGE PAY!!!!!!!!! I don't think I can add enough "!!!!!!" to that. Where I live I got a higher start off pay that was better than and other photographers I've talked to. The main reason this job was so great is because of the mileage pay. At times you may only work at a center for 4-5 hrs but depending on your coverage area, your round-trip drive time could be 6 hours. So if you add up your mileage pay plus your drive time pay, do that a couple times a week, your mileage could possibly be more than your photography hours worked. Plus, mileage pay was tax free!! It pretty much made up for the wear and tear on your car. We now have gas cards. Which is a big joke. I can fill up once, and if I'm working local, that can last me over a week. But if you take the mileage that I could have earned, I would have made double or triple that amount of gas. We also get a few cents of our mileage put into a "savings account" that we can use towards can maintenance when needed. But if we work there for years, and don’t end up using it. We don't get it back. That's lovely. What a great incentive!!
