Pros

Well known brand; Employee Stock Ownership Plan, long history, many many committed (although exhausted) employees, free coffee and tea (for now)

Cons

Lack of strong leadership, lack of equitable treatment of employees, way behind in technology on every front, no long term strategic plan, short sighted

Don't work here - work for a smaller photo company

Pros

The culture and esop used to give employees purpose despite the constant internal screw ups. Now, after years of corporate stepping on the necks of the employees, while destroying top line sales with crazy marketing ideas, the go-get-em culture of Lifetouch is dead.

Cons

Promotions are mostly based on nepotism. Numerous, unannounced layoffs throughout the year.

Pros

Host store discounts. I was working at a Target Portrait Studio and since I shop there all the time, the discount was good to have. Small as it is, you pretty much save the tax you'd pay.

Cons

Everything else. The pay is insulting. $7.25 for ALL those ridiculous responsibilities AND abusive customers....do tell me how minimum wage is a "competitive" salary. The Target host store I was working in actually starts their team off at $7.75 - do the math. I'm an experienced photographer, so don't tell me the low wages were due to a lack of exp. No air conditioning under those hot as heck studio lights. The training is inadequate to say the least. It's also very rushed. If I'm going to be using a 5k camera, I'd like to know exactly what I'm doing so I don't break it. Trying to get perfect pictures in 10 minutes. Having other customers waiting while the current one sits at the computer for an hour asking to see the same pictures over and over and over again...while your coworkers don't offer to help at all. No appointments? Time to walk the Target store itself and lure people in. Yeah, no. Good luck getting your paycheck when you leave. I've been gone two months and have yet to get my last check. Human Resources doesn't care at all.
