Pros

Incredibly understanding and friendly managers/supervisors. Paid for mileage and hours driving, with a slightly hire pay while at schools. Getting to see different parts of the cities, and at smaller schools you have time to chat a bit with students which is always enjoyable! Travel to schools further away with paid hotel and meals! If you go into the prestige photography it is longer sessions per student and on occasion students have props and in this instance you get some creative wiggle room.

Cons

Short notice at times for shifts that may have a far travel distance (An hour or way more away) which makes a sleep schedule hard to maintain because you need to arrive to schools usually around 6-7. Not a living wage for the city, and not really any room to advance into a higher paying job as a photographer. You use your own vehicle, to transport camera gear, filling up the entire trunk and all passenger seats. You'll have this gear in your car during week days/ weekends. Also since it is your own car, and you will be traveling quite a bit at times, the wear and tear is something to consider. It's very fast paced, at times making the day quicker, but other times school staff is stressed and can be a bit much to handle if youre running behind. Sometimes very loud working conditions and you will lose your voice by the end of the day speaking over multiple classes waiting in a gym.

Pros

Work only Monday to Friday no over time. Only straight day time hours 8 to 4:30. Christmas break time off.

Cons

Heavy work load for substandard wage. Unpaid mandatory time off. Company bottom line more important than employee. No accountability for poor quality work

Pros

Acceptable hours (and pay) during busy period of around 1.5 months or so in the fall, and another two to three months in the spring (otherwise a lot of downtime). You show up to a different school basically everyday (refreshing) and photograph the entire student population. You can potentially make some great friends while working here.

Cons

The high turnover rate means that they don't really care about their employees, and certainly do not reward seniority/loyalty. I've seen them cast aside senior photographers in favor of newcomers for no apparent/rational reason. Management is poor and they expect you to work hard for disproportionate compensation; communication with schools is sometimes poor and results in unnecessary hardships.
