Pros

My co-workers were the only reason I kept coming back. If it weren't for their personalities I would have been gone a long time ago.

Cons

-Pay is ridiculously low. It's absurd, even within the context of "corporations" -No air conditioning in studio (combined with heat from lights, etc.) is torture -"Model Hours" give you no chance to become full-time. -On-call with absolutely no notice most of the year, while during the holidays you have no home life. (Part-time pay, on full-time hours) -Breaks are short and rare. (Some days there is none.) -Appointments are scheduled every 10 minutes. Which is utterly ridiculous. It's impossible to complete a sitting with 4 screaming kids and upset adults in 10 minutes. Honestly.

Pros

It was a great feeling to be able to take pictures of kids who were so giddy and excited to get their pictures taken on picture day.

Cons

You’re driving to random different schools sometimes close, sometimes far. You have to pack all the equipment in your car and then go to the schools and remember how to set these huge equipment up the right way. You don’t get a break or a lunch! My breaking point was starting work at 5am at school and not finishing until 5pm with no break!!!! Also, you’re not learning photography. You’re just setting up the equipment and making sure the student or staff is fit in the frame and then clicking a button on a clicker to take the picture. You’re also graded on your pictures. A good picture is considered a person smiling……most kids don’t want to smile.

Pros

Being able to travel and work with kids is great, but......

Cons

.....the pay is completely unreasonable for what is required. mileage rate is less than state minimum and no longer paid for full round trip using personal vehicle. Lots of wear and tear on inside and out of vehicles that aren't covered. You are required to travel long distance sometimes hours away one way. While the photography was once a passion that you could learn tips and tricks along the way, there simply is no longer the ability nor the time to learn and grow. New employees teaching new employees. Extreme lack of knowledge in the photography field. It is quite embarrassing how downhill the company has gone in such a short time. The amount of lies revolving around non-existent raises, bonuses that are impossible to reach, and getting extra training opportunities in other lines of the business is a terrible way to treat good employees. This is why the turnover rate is at its highest.
