Pros

Staff was cordial, professional, driven. I've taught for other, similarly-marketed programs, and I would say Lindamood Bell is the best program in regards to what clients receive. We were trained thoroughly, and have a thorough peer and supervising review system to make sure the service we provide stays up to par. Pricing aside, it's definitely a service I would recommend to clients over many other programs. I thought our office manager and our center directors were wonderful and professional. Ultimately this was just a job I took on to gather experience before moving on to what I actually wanted to do, and it was an enjoyable experience and excellent stepping stone. Depending on what you hope to do in life, I wouldn't recommend this job to someone unless they are in college or a fresh graduate hoping to get valuable experience while in a transition stage in their life. There seems to be some room for upward mobility, but not with the timeliness I would expect in other fields/companies.

Cons

I was hired as a seasonal employee and stayed on with the program into the normal year, but I don't think my employment status ever changed. Once the seasonal rush was over, my hours became really inconsistent, and several employees, as well as myself, took on secondary jobs to cover. During the busy weeks I would work for 40 hours and the slow weeks I would work maybe 6-12. I consider this no fault of the administrative staff or company, just the nature of the business, though perhaps some forewarning to new employees who aren't aware of what the hours will be like during the off-season would be appreciable. I would say the pay, given the cost of living in the city, was barely passable. Ultimately it was more of a side job than a real livable source of income for me during the off season.

Pros

- I enjoyed working with the kids, you can see their improvement over the course of a few weeks so it's rewarding - Every day (and every hour) is different, so it keeps things interesting - Coworkers were friendly - Work is extremely seasonal, so it was the perfect summer / winter break job when I was in college

Cons

- Company charges more than $110/hour to the families but only pays $17/hour - They refused to give me a raise even after working there for 4 summers - Lots of employee turnover because they don't pay enough for how hard everyone works - Very strict about how to teach according to their established curriculum - no innovation - Very strict about schedule - everything is down to the minute, not flexible about sick days or time off - A lot of pressure to produce results (improve kids' scores) because parents are paying $$$$

Great summer job if you like working with kids

Cons

pay is frustratingly low when you find out how much families pay to send their kids here
