Pros

Benefits are good Flexibility is good

Cons

In our department and in the Construction department the managers will micromanage anything that catches their eye. The company events kill your work week so end up having to play catch up after hours Everyone is VERY appearance focused. It doesn't matter if you do your job well as long as you look like you're prepared for every meeting. Any criticism of a manager by another manager will bring their wrath down on you.

Pros

Link is a well funded company and has amazingly smart people. There are so many departments and opportunities for remote work, as well as flexible work schedules. The salaries and bonus structure are generous and they utilize Insperity's platform for better benefit rates. If you're in California you can even elect to have Kaiser for $0. They do provide tools, such as ipads with cellular data, to use out in the field, cellphone reimbursement and "no meeting Wednesdays" so managers can be out in the field with their customers. The people are absolutely amazing - I can not stress this enough - the people are great!

Cons

SMS - the pain is real. It's a third party management system for the vendor services at the properties. You get no say so, no vendor relationship, no communication. So Many Procedures - the procedures are forever changing and have so many steps involved that it takes a long time to get anything accomplished. Too many cooks in the kitchen to get anything done. Middle Management Mania - There are so many levels between the actual PM and VP level that you don't actually get to make any decisions. The "market officer" drives many decisions - you just execute on what you're being told to do. AP Nightmare - approval levels are so low that an invoices has to go through multiple levels for approval, if it's higher than $1500 it goes to SPM, higher than $2500 to AD. It also takes forever to get invoices through the AP system as they go through a third party for coding, comes back and they're not correct so the PMA codes it, it goes back to the third party to review coding again, then comes back - it's a game of ping pong ball before the PM ever gets to see it and as the person that created the budget, requested the service and knows where it should be coded to as they're the one responsible for their budget, we have NO ABILITY to change the coding ourselves! There are also multiple workflows for the different types of invoices. Bottom line - this is an INVESTMENT COMPANY that happens to manage their properties, NOT a property management company.
