Not an easy company to work for

Pros

Paychecks arrive, most of the time to the correct location and person. Obviously, there are a lot of good "billable resources" working very hard who hold up the company. At a management level, there is a lot of firefighting, which some people clearly enjoy.

Cons

Everyone is short on time, money and support at this company. Basic workplace expectations are not even close to being met. Each site, project, etc is a completely different experience as the company culture is defined exclusively by the local management. If you are very flexible and work hard then you will be ok, Never great though. Lionbridge is not an easy place to stay if you really like to see results and feel good about what you do.

Pros

1) Flexible timings, 2) Comp-offs 3) Work from home 4) Not so bad transportation facilities

Cons

1) Flexible timings, comp-offs and work from homes are taken for advantage by the management and everyday wants the employee to spend overtime in the office, therefore personal life outside office is gone for a toss. They do not respect your holidays, weekends or even birthdays, they want you to work. 2) Onsite opportunities abroad - whenever, you get an opportunity it is grabbed by the super-seniors, managers, top managers and directors who has already had the opportunities several times. 3) Company is in the run to cost cutting, so,: a. Daily we hear of news where some new employee benefits are cut down or reduced b. Apprentices, Vendors, contractors, via 3rd party companies are preferred over hiring employees, c. Started day and night shifts and 4) Hectic works - Attrition rates are high and work force is less and instead of hiring new work force, company is not in the mood for hiring and therefore whatever work comes is piled upon the existing resource and hectic working 5) Performance ratings and appraisals have no relation 6) Average annual appraisal is 10% and the management finds reasons to prevent you from getting appraisals for that year. I've heard reasons where a person went for maternity leave for 6 months as provided by the company policies but did not get appraisal for that year. I've had personal experiences where employees do not get appraisals for that year if he/she politely argued with any senior manager for the sake of a saving the project. 7) NO innovation or new kinds of projects - Top management is old and do not entertain innovation and new kind of projects. They are happy doing the existing business and want to continue with the same kind of projects because they might be feeling safe till its earning money for survival. 8) Some senior people continue to stay here because by staying and working here for a long time they have lost their knowledge because of the monotonous works and same kind of projects, that they are not relevant with the current technology trends, so they don't easily get selected for jobs elsewhere. BUT those who could stay away from these monotonous projects, and kept on updating themselves, they have gone far by their efforts. 9) HR is not a friend of the employee. They stand for and with the company. 10) Business outlook is getting from worse to worst-er 11) Forcefully deduct money from your salary stating some cause (sometimes social cause). They could have asked but not forced upon and should not have deducted directly from salary.
