Pros

Not difficult to become a contractor. Good pay. Can work very few hours, very infrequently, or both, and stay employed. Flexible schedule.

Cons

Work is not always available. Can be extremely boring and repetitive. Pay is only once a month (hours billed at end of month, pay received about a month later)

Pros

Informal and casual workplace. Not too stressful. Allows you to handle personal life relatively easily (for e.g., leaves are granted more or less easily, etc). Remuneration structure is simple (no excessive deductions)

Cons

The upper management is pathetic. The whole lot of them need to be fired and replaced. Poor decision making across the board is a pandemic problem. The HR policies and personnel are annoying and irritating. The pay grade is depressing, and there's hardly any vertical growth. Although you may get promotions in principle, your work remains the same. Salary increments are generally hilarious. The appraisal system and method is a joke. After a while, you'll not be adding anything valuable to your own professional profile.

Pros

Good exposure to project management. Project management guidelines are much in line with PMP training. You get to handle end to end project life cycle. You are given client communication at a very early stage.

Cons

Office politics is hellish. Most irritatingly, the management themselves are involved in it. Salary is very poor, you can never expect to get a good raise no matter how excellent your performance may be. 90% of the Model II PMs come here for exposure in project management and then leave when they get a good paying job. Management cannot be trusted. I have seen management retaining people who have put in their papers by promising them a promotion or good raise. But when the time comes they go back on their promise. Really unprofessional and terrible thing to do with anyone. Work time flexibility and work culture was one thing due to which people used to stay back at lionbridge. That seems to be waning with time and new HR policies. The one factor for which people used to stay back is now on the verge of being withdrawn.
