Pros

LG is a decent studio name to have on your resume.

Cons

They compensate extremely poorly in comparison to the larger studios (think 30% to 50% less for the same position). Title inflation is rampant and most managers manage no one. They would rather give you a bump in title than pay you one dollar more. The open office plan is not conducive to any kind of deep work as you're constantly being interrupted by those around you. The motion picture side of the business is under a tremendous amount of financial strain. Expect more consolidation/lay-offs.

Unbearably corporate

Pros

Once had some popular IP

Cons

Stuffy and corporate all the way up the food chain. This is the kind of place that tells interns they need to spend their whole days getting coffee and taking sandwich orders if they ever want to advance in their careers (blatantly untrue - there are plenty of places in Hollywood that will provide stimulating work for their employees, intern or not). Senior Management was unaware of which movies the company has made. Once provided me with a list of films including Saw, Twilight, etc., and had me look through a physical filling cabinet (where the records were kept, apparently) to see if the company had distributed then or not. I checked them off by memory instead, because unlike management I actually enjoy the film industry. If you enjoy film, I wouldn't recommend Lionsgate - they have had very few successful movies since the heyday of Twilight/Hunger Games. You get few interesting projects, and it shows in the disinterest of everyone around you. Add on top of that a generally bro-y culture and this is probably the last place in Santa Monica you want to work

Pros

Nice office near the beach Good film and television products Great cafe in the building

Cons

Some departments have lifers15-20 years in same jobs or departments, they are allowed to get real comfortable and not add value. These lifers and some people who know how to work the political game are allowed to get away with murder and still keep their jobs. Leadership is scared to make bold moves because they are also lifers. Always the worry that the company is for sale always having to keep one eye open if layoffs are coming.
