Pros

You get to work in a brand new building with a gym and work out classes available to the employees.

Cons

This company prides itself on being a "family" company that cares about the people of Detroit and their employees but it could not be further from the truth. They have you sit through a week long orientation where they go on and on about their morals and how much the Ilitches care about families, even having you spend half a day watching a documentary dedicated to Mike Ilitch and how great of a man he was. They put a large amount of effort to have you "drink the kool-aid" so you feel super special working there. I was hired on via a staffing company which should have been my first red flag - the corporate recruiters could not find recruiters themselves so they paid extra money to utilize an agency? At the time of my interview I was already finishing up my job search and had multiple competitive offers on the table but out of respect I wanted to complete the remaining interview I had already scheduled. I really enjoyed the managers I met and something they continued to stress was how important it was to have the right "culture fit". I was very upfront about my current job search and my needs. I am a single parent and it is important that I also find the right supportive culture for myself as well. I stressed in the interview that I could not afford to accept a role that would not be at bare minimum 6 months-1 year nor did I really have any interest in accepting a temporary role. They offered me the role the same day and pushed for me to accept it over my other offers. I declined and stressed that I needed stability but was constantly reassured that this would be at least 6 months then perm role. I accepted the offer because it seemed like everything, they shared in the interview was exactly what I was seeking but it was all BS and lines. I started and noticed relatively quickly there was not alot of work for me to do and the work I was doing was extremely junior in comparative to my background and experience. The jobs were extremely easy to fill and the hiring managers I worked with were great and I received a lot of compliments from them fast. After being super bored and unchallenged and noticing things were not picking up I brought up my concerns again to a manager and said I cannot afford to not have a job randomly one day and again was reassured that there would be plenty of work coming and not to worry to be "patient". I was lied to because after I identified the candidates for the roles I had on my desk I received a call on a SUNDAY after only 4 weeks (1 of the weeks was orientation) that they ended my contract. So I left my stable job, turned down 4 other offers to end up unemployed after 4 weeks with zero explanation from anyone at the company. I have a 5 year old and a mortgage with no 2nd income and the company completely lied to my face multiple times and left me in a horrible place. Complete disregard for a person and their life. Leaving me with no way to put dinner on the table for my 5 year old or pay our mortgage. It takes weeks to apply for jobs, interview, and secure a position if you're lucky. Not only did it screw me over it also now looks like I did something wrong to be "fired" after 4 weeks! That is not even a long enough time for someone to have performance issues or to see if someone is a "culture fit". They still have never felt the need to even give me one bit of a reason as to how I went from being told I’m doing everything I should be doing and to just "be patient" to getting let go on a weekend out of nowhere with zero feedback as if you had done something wrong. Do yourself a favor and do not work for these people.

Pros

there is nothing pro about this company. If you want to work here, good luck.

Cons

Leadership. Sr. Management, resistance to change from legacy employees, a false culture of family. Poor skilled people at critical positions. The president tries to keep living in the past, Takes way to long to get change that is needed. even when you have more knowledge and skills, if you are not part of the Sr. Management, you are nothing. You cannot trust people as they will throw you under a bus in a minute to protect themselves. Sad, part, Sr. Management allows it. Its about being nice not about accountability.
