Great Place to Work with Strong Values

Pros

I worked for Lockheed Martin for over 10 years. It was a great experience - learned a lot from some of the most talented people in the business. They had a very strong ethics program which set them apart from competitors and strong leadership. Really good work/life balance and salaries were generous.

Cons

Since it is such a large company, their overhead budgets (anything not charged directly to a contract) are fairly limited, but I think it keeps costs down so that new opportunities can be won. The facility I where I worked had a training center that allowed the workforce to take classes on their own time, so that was a benefit.

Pros

The compensation is fairly good. There are some good managers who do communicate, and most of the engineering tools are OK.

Cons

There is a need to streamline the design and development processes; when this has happened, it has been uneven. Opportunities to move to new roles are limited. There is uncertainty in the overall future of the Sunnyvale facility. There are many times when long hours are required.
