Working at number 1 defense contractor in the world

Pros

Great opportunities to work on leading edge technology. Lots of openings for specific military skill sets if you are a veteran. Looks good on resume if you want to go work for another defense contractor.

Cons

If you are not in a technical or engineering type of position then pay raises are very slim or non existentent. Job dependent on the contract you are working on. If the contract ends then you are out of a job. Tough to get re-assigned or find a similiar position in another division and no relocation if you are not high enough on the food chain.

Pros

Nice co-workers and it's close to the Metro

Cons

Pretty much everything! This contract services TSA, Lockheed under-bid the contract in the beginning, so don't expect great pay or any type of raises. Management is just trying to keep their heads above water on this contract. So, there are absolutely no perks and expect to be asked to make a financial "contribution" when it comes time for the company picnic and holiday party. It's very sad the way employees are treated on this contract. I can promise you, if you come to work here, you'll regret it.

Pros

Plenty of responsibility, even for new employees Potential for fast-tracked growth if you have the right manager Excellent educational support for those seeking advanced degrees Lots of training opportunities Humongous network and potential to move around within and between LM companies Commitment to professional ethics and personal integrity is top-notch

Cons

Pay is average at best, and based on an extremely rigid structure. Compensating truly exceptional employees is very difficult Job functions are extremely narrow in focus Inter-organization cooperation can be extremely difficult and frustrating Performance review system is abysmal Merit raises barely keep up with inflation for most employees, even those with good ratings
