Iron clad job security so they will shuffle you to a new department instead of firing.

Cons

Attracts mediocre people that don’t care about learning efficient design or any modern software engineering practices. Just ok and I would only use this place as a jumping off point.

Promotions and raises are not meritocratic but simply time based, massive amount of corporate bureaucracy for anything, constant over promising and under delivering which leads to overworked employees and very little work satisfaction, substandard compensation
