Decent but away a lot

Pros

For me it was good pay without a degree or certification, school. Lots of overtime. I got to see other parts of the country for free. Free hotels and trips to the airports. New friends.

Cons

Work in the summer heat and the winter cold. Work in the rain and mud. 2 weeks home…well, 12 days home. 1day to travel home and 1 day to travel back to the machine is counted towards your 2 weeks off. Then 3-4 months of work before you go home for 2 weeks again. Very hard to get time off. Missed a lot of graduations, birthday parties, funerals, etc.
