Pros

They pay for your travel and lodging, but then again if they didn't they would almost have to double their sub standard wages. Good 401k. it's a job. If you have a iron or electrolyte deficiency this job is a great source of both.

Cons

Traveling is nice but you never get time to actually see anything, so I don't count it as a pro. You're not even guaranteed a day off, outside of laundry or food you cannot use the trucks to do anything unless if its right down the street. A hourly op 2 makes more then most salary positions at $14-$16 if you have a normal work week since they get overtime, and they don't even get per Diem. My suggestion is to max out at a op 2 or clerk and don't go any further, it's not worth the hassle. They hire anyone off the street, i know what the requirements are for the job but that doesn't mean that they are followed. If you have a family this is defiantly not a job for you, unless if you only want to see them 3 months out of the year that is.

Glad that you are taking advantage of one of the fantastic benefits that Loram offers. Although you state that being away for 6 weeks at a time is a negative, this type of schedule "6/2", meaning 6 weeks working, then 2 weeks off, is part of the job description and is covered during again during the interview process. I am assuming that you answered that this would be an acceptable schedule for you, or you would not have received an offer of employment. I hope that you enjoy your two weeks off. Many of our employees use this time for family vacations, hunting/fishing trips or for projects around the house. I hope that you find a good use for your time off as well.

Thanx for your comments about the family like atmosphere - we work very hard to achieve this type of culture at Loram. Even though Loram does not do any work in the community, we have a strong belief that we ARE part of the local community and do whatever we can to make it a better environment for the residents.
