Great Benefits but little upward movement

Pros

Benefits and salaries are good. Some supervisors will help you get the experience you seek. 4/40 schedule.

Cons

very little promotions. most often will have to do work that is higher than your paid position. The middle management positions are full of stereotypical govt workers who are waiting for retirement which makes it hard for entry level planners to get promoted. expect to be entry level for years.

Pros

There are a lot of smart people there, so working with various teams is a good experience. There are lots of projects going on, so plenty to keep you busy, and interested. If you are an employee, good benefits and retirement packages available.

Cons

The politics are crushing, and the bureaucracy is ridiculous. The environment is all about not getting caught with the blame. Middle management had created an atmosphere where nobody really wants to put themselves out there or go the extra mile.
