Pros

They have good benefits and other opportunities to transfer. They also do not have layoffs very often. Opportunities to work for the county are sometimes many.

Cons

It is not as organized as it could be. Procedures need to be updated and administration needs to work on streamlining processes.

Pros

Los Angeles County is a great company to work for if you're looking for a long term, stable career. There are many different departments within the county to choose from, and they all have a common goal which is to help people.

Cons

The cons of working for the Probation Department is that like many other companies, there tends to be movement done out of order. For instance, in the hiring/promotional process, the experience of the employee speaks for itself. but when management deviate and go around the order of fairness, then the moral of the company declines and never returns to the way it should be. Even when management gets rotated per policy, the damage has already been done, and those who are due to move up in-house generally get moved up and away, and outsiders from other facilities are brought in to fill the spots the in-house staff were due.

Pros

Working in the Pacific Palisades Highlands where I lived to help people vote. Great inspector and clerks to work with.

Cons

Change of poling place to one further away in the same location above. Very little money for the long hours I worked. Difficulty getting more people to perform as pole clerks and inspectors.
