Pros

Good colleagues who were interested in the work and believed in the mission. Interesting to attend different community meetings to see what issues were relevant to them.

Cons

Because it's a large government agency, making changes or working on large projects had to pass through multiple layers of review, which slowed down work. It was very 9 to 5, which can be good, but also felt like I wasn't working on things that were that important if everyone could leave right at 5.
