Pros

Flexabilty on the scheduling. They offer great training programs and encouragegrowth. The management usually start low in the company so they know what it is like and actually will help you. Most of them seem like regular associates. The co workers are very helpful across all departments.

Cons

Lowes runs a lean staffed operation for the many products and services it offers. The computer system is an out of date nightmare. Once you figure out Genesis it is fairly easy. There is a lot of shoplifting at lowes so we have to watch out for that. We have a lot of tasks being so short staffed.

Pros

There is opportunity to move up if you show initiative to do so.

Cons

You need to be in a current location for a certain time in order to move up. There is a lot of down playing other associates behind their back which happens at every work place.

Pros

Great sales incentives, great opportunities for advancement and success within the company. You really control your own future with this company depending on how hard you work and how devoted you are. Excellent training programs, infinite number of resources to help you succeed at your job. Lowe's is well known and by working there you will add a significant notch to your resume.

Cons

If you are a salaried manager there you will end up devoting 50-60 hours per week to the company. Alot of success at Lowe's is determined by which store you end up at. If you get a good store you are set, if you are in a bad store you will feel trapped and there will be constant pressure from corporate. During the spring season you can expect to work 6 days a week and all holiday weekends. The yearly bonus program is very good; about 40% of yearly salary, but in the end when you add up the amount of hours you have worked and your personal time you have devoted to the company the bonus only seems to balance things. Coming from being a department manager making $16 an hour plus overtime during the spring months to a zone manager making $45k a year salaried, I ended up in reality making $5k more a year being a zone manager working an average 50 more hours per month.
