Pros

The people are very friendly and it is not a high pressure job. I'm over 60 years old and came out of retirement so that I could get insurance. Lowes management at the store level was unable to give me full time status but I was able to get full-time hours. Part-timers insurance is really pretty pathetic in that it will only pay up to a $1000 in benefits per year. My meds are almost $500/month, so that means I've got 3 months of insurance. Full time employees get Blue Cross and real benefits. It would be great if I everyone that wanted could get the same insurance.

Cons

The hours are not the best in the world. You either have to be there at 6:30 in the AM or you have to stay until 10:00 in the PM. Every once in a while you get a mid-shift.

Pros

Great people in a store dedicated to customer service. Customers enjoy shopping in our store because they are always made to feel welcome. A fun place to work. Benefits are substantial in an economy where many jobs offer none.

Cons

Retail hours do not provide regular days off, easy planning of vacations and regular sleep schedules. Lowe's does, however, make provision for days off by request with 3 weeks notice - not easy for everyone, but at least an effort to accommodate.

Pros

Employees are the company's greatest asset. There is a long and storied culture within Lowe's that calls for fair and equal treatment of all employees. Employees are empowered to take care of customers to the best of their ability. The job is fun, fast and action-packed. Those employees that give 100% every day will enjoy the job and reap the benefits in return. The job is definitely challenging whether at an entry level position or a management level position. Lowe's annually seeks employee imput in regards to ideas on how the company can improve employee condiotions and morale wihin the stores.

Cons

As in any large company Lowe's is dependant on several layers of management to carry on the company philosophy and policies. Lowe's has many very good managers that deliver on the leadership princiiples that Lowe's espouses. Due to fast growth and a fast-paced store environment there are times that managers are promoted to positions beyond the scope of their current abilities.
