Pros

Lowe's is a place where you can learn alot about new construction and remodeling. Each department has knowledgeable associates who can teach you about their area. This helps you to be able to assist a variety of customers, from the pro who knows what they want they just need to know where to find it, to the customer who is a beginner and just wants to make some changes to improve their house.

Cons

The work schedule can be somewhat scattered with different days and hours each week which tends to get tiresome. You can close one night at 11 then open the next morning at 6.

Taking the good with the bad

Pros

The main reason that chose to work at Lowes is because I enjoy shopping at the store. All of the employees are always helpful and the atmosphere is welcoming. At my interview I had one one question, "Will you be understanding and accomodating when it comes to my children and the school schedule?" I had turned down better jobs before that had answered this question "No;" Lowes said "Yes." I started as a temporary part-time employee in the spring, the busiest time of year. My first 90 days were great! I loved my job! I learned many new things and brought skills to the table that past employees did not have because of my education and training. It was a wonderful situation for both Lowes and I.

Cons

After my 90 day "temporary" status was up and I was offered a permenant posistion, things changed . Senior management began litterally yelling a the employees, including myself, without provocation. I was and still am appalled by this. No one deserves to be treated in such a manner. It continues to this day. The employees of the store that I am at make their first stop to the customer service desk so they can see who is on duty that day... it lets them know how there day will go. I have been searching for another job for months, but unfortunately I am unable to find one that is as flexable and understanding with my schedule as Lowes is, so I must take the good with the bad.
