Pros

High starting wage, regular large raises for work very comparable to cashiering anywhere else. Training available for moving up, my store was very internally mobile. Walkie-Talkie system fosters employee interaction. Customer Service employees able to make decisions and have management support.

Cons

Garden center... out in the weather and not being rotated. Loss prevention is only on-site 9-5, leaving cashiers to handle it. No understanding below Assistant Manager of business in general or Lowe's in specific. Head Cashier turnover near 100% over 1 year.

Pros

Benefits, treated fairly if you are in the "clique," good employee discounts during the holidays. nice price markdowns if managers like you.

Cons

Favoritism to employees that enjoy "tattle-telling" All policies are not enforced the same with various employees. Store manager will only speak to "favorites." If you are not a "fav" he will not even acknowledge your name.

Lowe's Life in a Nutshell

Pros

Lowe's offers a great benefits package to its employees and the opportunities for advancement are abundant. Generally the atmosphere is friendly and professional, and upper management try get involved with your concerns moreso than other employers.

Cons

As with any retail environment, there can exist periods of high stress and tension within any given department. It can also be difficult to coordinate necessary absences from work (especially in emergency/obligatory situations).
