Pros

For an inexperienced Engineer, the compensation in very competitive. There is never a shortage of work, and most bosses are hands-off. Co-workers are friendly, and it is a collaborative work environment.

Cons

Work-life balance is a challenge, and it is expected that engineers work significantly more than 40 hours per week. Also, it has been communicated that if you're not willing to relocate to Cleveland, OH, your career in Texas will be flat. I've learned that there are many layers of truth, and I have been disappointed by decisions made by upper management and HR.

Conservative, safe, boring.

Pros

Pay is competitive (but nothing special). Professional development is pretty good. Lateral moves are fairly common.

Cons

Very conservative company. "If it ain't broke, why improve it?" You can get stuck in the same job for a long time. Very insular, inward-looking - little connection to current best practices, no desire to change.

Pros

Decent pay, some good people at lower levels of the organization. Very diverse and opportunities to move laterally at times.

Cons

No collaboration with work force at ALL. The pay raises stopped being called cost of living now called market adjustment. If your talented they don't want you or your opinion, they want yes men and women, and for you to be a robot. Very clearly middle management fails and gets promoted or moved to different position to mess that up also. No future with current management, safety record worst I have seen. Doors may shut in 2 years if so eone else doesn't break up the nepotism that is rampant here.
