Not Great, but grateful

Pros

I have a job (for now) and insurance and am grateful for that.

Cons

Most of my team has left, been forced out, or chosen to leave. They say people leave because of their manager. The reason Lucid has high ratings on great places to work, I believe, is because those of us that are unhappy are too afraid to say anything. They send out anonymous surveys and then your boss comes to you and calls you out on what you said. If you have certain view points, you are applauded, but the distance between personal beliefs and a safe workplace for all is extremely distant. I think the engineering team is the one happy team at this place. The pay is low, too low, the competition bordering on absurd, the pricing structure and model just doesn't make sense. On the outside, Lucid is cute, on the inside it is young and hip. Look closer and you will see a ton of once confident people cowering in the bathroom crying.

Unsolicited, honest review of Product

Pros

Great ICs. Most have been there since college, and they truly have a desire to drive impact.

Cons

Product organization leadership is toxic. If you value your mental health, avoid this group. They switch up strategy every 6 months. Their directives are just buzzwords with no real direction. They’ll ask you to do something vague, and then tell you it’s not what they asked for after you deliver it. Rinse and repeat. They don’t seek to learn the right way grow a product. Listening to 2 episodes of Lenny’s Poscast will give you more product knowledge than the entire Product Senior leadership group combined. Getting treated poorly by a Product Leader? Sorry, no one is going to help you. The whole org protects these leaders, regardless of the emotional harm they inflict. I've spoken with at least 3 PMs who said they found themselves in tears on the office bathroom bc of how they are treated. There's also a lack of accountability for the product not growing. Sr leaders keep blaming it on the PMs or Directors, but it's pretty clear that it's a leadership problem.
