Pros

Lyondell is a good place to work if you are willing to work hard. Everyone here has plenty to do and we are well compensated for it. The company has as its high priority to keep us safe. Benefits are outstanding and if you know how to manage your time, you have a pretty consistent schedule.

Cons

Too many meetings, too many people bragging about their workflow on the hallways – shut up and go back to work; therefore, not much is being properly done.

Pros

Pretty good place to work and we actually work hard and make stuff. If that is how you choose to earn your living. If not then please go somewhere else to obtain your bread. A lot of good people who work hard every day. Sometimes you can get lost in the shuffle but believe me each of us counts. Because we don`t carry extra staffing. We work hard to be good environmental neighbors and keep each of us and our contract friends safe. A lot of smart, hardworking people and good benefits make LyondellBasell (at least in North America) a good manufacturing company to work for.

Cons

Middle management gets pretty goofy sometimes but I think this is pretty much true of any manufacturer so don`t blame us for the worlds problems. Don`t know about upper tier but 'the apple doesn`t fall far from the tree' right?

Pros

Had I been asked this question 2000 - 2010, I would say the people...Even up to 2009 - leadership had not gotten to be so goofy. The Basell buy of Lyondell (2007) was a bit stressful but "doable" as both companies had amazing folks coming together to collaborate on best practices. Alot of lasting friendships and great things, believe it or not, came from that "merger".

Cons

Procurement Leadership = Dictatorship "Management by embarrassment" is self proclaimed by one Extremely high turnover with slow/no backfill = frustration and stress Unethical, unprofessional, and not a trustworthy group of managers (x4) heading the team into the ground. (ex. 30% reduction of group since 2009, mostly by choice)
