Pros

Lytro is a very unique place to work. The mix of technical and creative is strongly celebrated here. The team as a whole is what makes this place exceptional; Extremely smart, yet dialed into the artistic world as well. There is a strong sense of work hard/play hard. We have fun here together and are building awe-inspiring products. I find our Executive team to be the most down to earth, easily accessible group I have ever worked for in this Valley. To me, their type of leadership is very refreshing.

Cons

The "cons" that come to mind are very indicative of a youngish start-up. Brilliant people bringing a disruptive product to market don't always have all the tools to "run the business". This has already been remedied with the hiring of a strong, experienced CEO.

Pros

The people. People have been welcoming, are very smart, and are funny. We're having great laughs every day. Lunch is brought in every day and entire company typically eats together. The office space. beautiful open space, very comfortable, and encourages collaboration. Team creativity and focus. Being a part of working on something truly innovative is blast and feel the entire team is focused on delivering a game changing product. Sr. Mgmt team does a great job keeping everyone on point. CEO. Has been here since April ’13 and he really fosters a sense of family. The culture of company is really important to him and it shows.

Cons

It’s a super fast paced environment and sometimes I get pulled in different directions to keep things from falling through cracks, so wearing multiple hats is necessary. As resources become more available would expect this to improve.

Pros

- A CEO who really cares about people and culture. - A multi-dimensional product roadmap that is super ambitious and exciting. - Passionate, smart team. It's a mix of photo enthusiasts and engineers who are really motivated by the challenge of "reinventing" photography and working on stuff nobody has done before. It's a wicked smart, quirky, fun team, and I've built some strong friendships in my time here. - Low politics. - Flexible work environment. - I'm learning new things, and being asked to do new things constantly which keeps me on my toes.

Cons

- What we're trying to do is really hard, and success won't happen overnight. Those who want immediate results may get impatient. - There is constant change...most of it is very positive and intentional, but for those who are averse to change, I'd recommend you stick to a larger company environment. - We're high on innovation, but have lots of room for growth on process and internal operations. This is a challenge at most start-ups. We're making lots of headway but need to continue to improve here.
