Don’t Waste Your Time With This Company

Pros

Surprisingly good benefits (no copays).

Cons

This company is on the verge of a joke, though I haven’t figured out the punchline yet. Where do I start? Promises that the company will “turn around” so we can get deserved performance bonuses have been ongoing for the last two years. MACOM says they need to “cut budgets” yet John Croteau flies off in his private jet all the time. “Budget cuts” also mean that seemingly endless alcohol is expensed on what they call “P cards” whenever there is a work dinner and we’re constantly on “hiring freezes” which just discourage any quality potential hires from waiting around to get answers from us. “Budget cuts” also mean a multi-million dollar new facility at headquarters in Lowell, MA. A multi-million dollar facility that has a coffee bar and much needed (can you sense the sarcasm?) game room and gym. These “cuts” also mean we make sure to utilize the boxes MACOM has at both home stadiums for the Patriots and Red Sox (surely a minor expense as those have to be cheap, right??). MACOM claims it’s for “customer appreciation” and to potentially woo new business but I know that’s not the case. What a great boost to company morale! The fat cats are getting fatter and their pockets spill out blood diamonds borne from the hands of lowly worker bees. There is so much waste at this company it would make your head spin. Don’t bother applying at the Ithaca branch- it’s a sinking ship the rats are desperately trying to flee. The Ithaca branch has been subjected to layoffs before and, since the suits are so short-sighted, those people (myself included) were almost immediately hired back as temps with an outside company and no benefits. Let me repeat that louder for those of you in the back... we were fired and then hired back via a temp agency with NO benefits. Managers who constantly came in late, left for two hour (plus) lunches, no leadership, no accountability, selling the same parts (but named differently) for varying prices... just a handful examples of how a quality MACON (“n” added for emphasis as this surely does seem like some sort of long con to dupe unsuspecting investors, clients, and potential hires) really works. To those leaving, I wish you good luck and congrats on escaping. To those staying, good luck and watch your back. To those responsible, expletive expletive expletive.

Thank you for taking time to share your experience; we take your feedback very seriously. As part of the rapidly changing nature of our industry and the markets we serve, MACOM must continuously adapt as an enterprise, which sometimes results in various changes to business operations and the occasional closing of an office. In these circumstances, we make every effort possible to minimize the impact to employees. Thank you.
