What a ride...just watch yourself as you get off.
Pros
The directing staff is great to work with. It truly is like family. It has its up and downs. The residents are very diverse, there are the ones you love and the ones that you can't stand.
Cons
The fecal hits the fan starting with the upper management in California. These people are so out of touch with the troops on the ground it would make your head spin. The part of the HR department that has a life line for the employees to go to is worthless. It is nothing more than a switch to turn on the "trouble maker" spot light. It has gotten to a point that no-one will use it. The upper two positions in the home office are vacant so there is no check and balance for the department management. MBK has directors take ethics courses online every so often but this company is far from ethical. A recent executive director change took place and was told to do what ever he wanted. The home office filled his head with pre-conceived ideas of all the director staff, so people were screwed before he ever met them. He comes into a building that the current staff had worked their behinds off to get from 80% capacity to a 98% for the past year and had a staff turn over rate(except in dining) very close to 0%. You think you would leave well enough alone and just work out a couple of rough areas. Not a chance. This new ED is so narcissistic and social inept. You need to be willing to listen to his outlandish tales to come into his confidence. He is hugely inappropriate with certain staff and out right rude to others. He spews company policy but shows up in torn jeans and a stained sweatshirt or brings in his family of five kids and has them sit in his office during an operations meeting. He will pass five different residents in the hall and say nothing, not even a hello, good morning, how are you doing. He will sit in his office for hours texting on his phone. He will not lend a hand with anything, not a tour, not at the reception desk, not in the dining room, not with activities. I have not seen him actually put in an eight hour day, he trips in just before 9 and is out of there at 3:30. He gets away with this because the home office has yet actually check-up on him and has been given a free ride. He is riding the coat tails of an awesome staff that he had nothing to do with. It is very sad. I really enjoyed working in this building, now it is nothing more than a dictatorship.
