Great Looks, Until You Get In

Pros

Benefits, PTO accrual, retirement, and discounts for hotels/car rentals/etc

Cons

Promotions are done based on tenure rather than qualifications and training. Supervisors make employees feel less than and they cannot be trusted. They use intimidation tactics so you do not feel comfortable using employee resources for help.

I wish they would have given me an honest chance.

Pros

Probably one of the cleanest hospitals I've ever been to. Very friendly staff. So many places to relax and eat.

Cons

I applied for many jobs that I felt I was capable of doing, however, I was ultimately selected to interview for a position that required virtually 0 skills. I have my bachelors (health related). They offered me $23,000 for this position, and I took it because I was fresh out of college with no hospital experience and could not even secure an interview with any other company. Even still, I tried to negotiate the salary but the recruiter was rude so I stopped. A year later, after adding all of my earnings, I see that I only took home a little over $19,000. I also paid $2,280 in parking garage fees. I felt sick when I realized this! I didn't acquire any new skills to help my career going forward, and I was severely underpaid. There was so much money being taken out of each check for taxes and benefits, and you can't even adjust it. The patients are lovely and people in other departments are very kind and helpful (at least in my experience). I was really looking forward to staying and growing with this company, but looking back, they obviously did not value me. I would be hesitant about ever returning.

Pros

Top notch research environment in terms of access to expertise and technology

Cons

Very bureaucratic and can often run into advisers/management that have old school mentality that leaning hard on people is the best way to get work done without treating the employee as a person
