Pros

So i have been with this hospital for four years. I have seen over the years many benefits come from those dedicated to helping patients fight cancer. The feeling of positivity when cellular products save lives is amazing. I work in the cellular labs and I find that most techs are willing to learn new techniques, personalities are good and all have educated backgrounds and/or previous experience. The job pays very decent for a manufacturing position in academia. The health benefits are blue cross blue shield and its a great package. Dental and eye are okay plans. The 403(b) is matched 100% but the state makes you put in 8% (you don't have a choice). You can take 100% of that after 5 yrs of service. They give a small bonus every year and get confused and call it a "raise", in reality its nice but it barely covers cost of living. Its given out usually around march. A small yearly "MD Anderson Award" is a bonus given once every year around october, usually.

Cons

Some of the huge cons of this facility are that management is very poor, giving poor moral to workers since nothing runs smooth. Doctors tend to bully labs into an aggressive work schedule and than no patients arrive. So there are stocks of supplies that tend to expire and cellular products that take up room in the liquid N2 tanks but are never used. Its a complete waste of time and energy and money. There is a complete lack of respect on managements part to notice those who work and those who are committed, b/c everyone is grouped into a generalized category to keep everyone "equal" and "the same". The assistant GMP director is completely incompetent, beware. Otherwise decent place to work for a first or second job and than move on.
