Pros

Competent people work here. Benefits are on point. Salaries and raises depend on who your supervisor is and what clout they have. Generous matching on 401Ks/Profit sharing. Great opportunities to attend client soft openings. Pet friendly.

Cons

In general, I like working here, but have reached my career ceiling. There's no room for advancement. For some reason, all true managerial/VP positions in the recent past have gone to people outside of the organization. (That's great for all of you considering employment here, but not for us employees.) One of three things generally happen once they are hired: 1.) They either fail spectacularly by trying to change the organization too much/given a mandate that they cannot as one person fulfill and are forced out; 2.) They suck up to the big bosses and politically become unpopular and power hungry; or 3.) Given a title but no power to back it up. They tend to stick along longer, but like me, get stuck in a career rut. All of the above creates uncertainty, sloppiness and tension within the ranks that does not have to exist. Congrats to those who get hired to managerial positions. You will have about six months to prove yourselves, and then you'll be thrown to the wolves. For those who are coming in more entry level, you will learn a lot, get to do some cool projects, and earn some real money, but this is not an organization where you will likely build a career. It's more of a stepping stone to bigger things.
