Great Place to grow but not to stay

Pros

I have worked for MCU for a few years and I started as a part time teller and worked my way up the company. Its very easy to get a promotion if you do your job well. The pay is very good along with the amazing incentives for sales.

Cons

The Tampa region is not run the same as the other regions. The management is just not up to par. The power trip that many managers are on makes it very difficult to enjoy work. Too many managers that were merged from another credit union who do not know very much about the system or even products are still in management. There is a lot of favoritism from the regional manager as well.

Pros

Good work-life balance. Most employees are friendly. Good starting point as a first job. Helps you develop your time management skills. No micro-management in consumer loan department.

Cons

-Monotonous and tedious tasks as a loan processor. Call center atmosphere. -Growth and advancement is limited. For instance, loan processors mainly have the same responsibilities as loan officers but pay is lower and they do not have lending authority. After being promoted to a loan officer, the next step up is eventually being apart of the credit committee. There they still have the same main responsibilities of a loan officer, but you now review the write ups and recommendations made by loan processors and loan officers who do not have sufficient lending authority. -Lack of leadership at middle management level. -Understaffed customer service department which leads to overflow of calls into other departments.

Pros

The pay is ok and peak time is 28 hours

Cons

I was working in New tampa branch. I received zero training. Branch manger always had an attitude with new hired people and some of the old people. She is highly untrained to hold such a position of authority. She has favoritism. She asked me to collect my belongings and leave the branch and never come back because she didn’t hear me greet her when she said hi. She was trying hard to find a reason for me to leave and she couldn’t find so that’s what she did. She made the work environment very toxic because of her attitude with employees. I wouldn’t recommend you work there.
