Pros

-Friendly people on staff -Benefits are pretty comprehensive -Always pushing creativity and unorthodox problem solving -Generous alumni base and fundraising support means new buildings, cutting edge technology, and student needs are met at the highest levels in education.

Cons

-Parking is a nightmare, incredibly expensive with lots that are rarely even remotely near the office. -Salaries for staff employees do not line up well against cost of living in Cambridge. Be prepared to commute from more affordable areas west, north, and south of the city. -Working areas may be cubicles, or tiny offices crammed into random spots in buildings (staff specific, faculty is a different story).

Stagnant salaries

Pros

Good benefits overall (health, tuition assistance)

Cons

Salaries are low and very slow to increase. You basically have to leave MIT and return in order to get a promotion
