Pros

MIT is an institution of higher education committed to staying at the forefront of what matters in education - producing the research & teaching to solve humanity's problems. If you believe in education, you can believe in working as a part of the MIT machine.

Cons

Sexism, ageism, ableism, and elitism are the dominant driving cultural forces in decision making at MIT. If you are not one of the nimble independent researchers, you are a part of a machine which is quick to hang on "the way it's always been done."

Pros

Great co-workers, stimulating environment, fantastic benefits and lots of interesting work going on. Faculty are amazing

Cons

Tough commute if you are not near the red line. Salaries are a bit behind the for-profit sector and no bonus potential

Pros

Flexible work hours that pay well, but let you do other work. Supportive bosses who understand that you have academics.

Cons

Between the academics and extracurricular, it can be hard to find the time necessary to get the work done in a meaningful, project based job.
