Pros

MIT is a great place to work with decent pay and great benefits. It is a unique community where there is always something interesting going on. Staff are generally welcome to take part in a wide variety of events and organizations on campus.

Cons

In almost any staff job here, keeping the faculty happy will be a priority. They have a wide range of personalities and sometimes to toxic ones go unchecked. This varies a lot by department, so ask around about the faculty you will be working with.

Pros

Some very smart people, exciting projects, relaxed work atmosphere, chance to make great connections.

Cons

Low pay, some of the projects are very poorly organized/probably won't be finished, some of the other UROP students don't know what they're doing.
