Offered hybrid work environment even before the pandemic. Good collegial, team culture overall although work-life balance and peer competition depends on department/lab. At the time, included free public transportation.

Cons

In some lab/offices, management can be very disorganized and toxic. Work tasks and load can be uneven across staff.

Great experience and networking overall. Experience depends solely on your individual lab group and mentor. Good technical training opportunities and great visibility for future employers. Very good for self motivated people looking to advance in a technical career or academia.

Cons

Bad at maintaining morale, minimal benefits, underpaid and overworked staff for a doctorate. Little oversight and feedback. Often isolating work with minimal positive feedback or constructive criticism.
