Pros

Co-workers have overall been great to work with, smart, and helpful. The overall FFRD mission spaces are impactful

Cons

Benefits have been declining year after year; the return to office policy was not well thought out and even more poorly implemented; upper management messaging is tone deaf and alienates employees; policy changes treat employees like children that need to be micromanaged; talented employees are leaving the company. When I first joined, the long tenure of a majority of the employees was worn as a badge of honor, now it seems that is no longer valued.

Pros

Good leadership from the directors on down, smart friendly coworkers, interesting work

Cons

Out of touch executive leadership team shows nothing but contempt for the employees below them. The CEO has finally announced his retirement within a year, but enormous damage has already been done. The rank and file have suffered one adverse policy change after another, and the brain drain is well underway. The changes are so negative-sum and malicious that I can only assume that the company is actively trying to drive attrition to save money on severance after “good growth” turned out not to be so good. The CEO put his brother in charge of “business transformation”, which has been a fiasco. He wasted millions on consultants until they had to be fired when it was discovered they were producing unusable garbage.

Pros

- large diversity of work opportunities - good education benefits

Cons

- continual need to job hunt ( every ~6 months or so) to maintain contract coverage, can be extremely nerve-wracking as you're also expected to network and find jobs for those that work under you - year after year we've seen reduction in benefits, given that salary is lower than comparable private sector companies that makes the company less attractive - company is spread far apart (you'll often be on teams with people located in several different teams), but leadership is gradually enforcing more RTO measures
