Pros

-Have the ability to say yes or no to any project that comes your way -Managers fully respect your time outside of work -Lots of interesting work across many different domains

Cons

-Have to find your own projects to work on and if someone screws up on their budgeting, you'll take the hit -Typical cons of working with the government - terrible documentation and how-to's on critical trainings/processes/requirements -Everyone charges their time to the specific projects their working on so people don't love having casual conversations because thats technically on your personal time -Make a decent amount starting out but raises and promotions after that are minimal

Pros

MITRE leads in opportunities to work with new technologies and provides a platform to really make a change in our community and overall security of our country. I have worked with brilliant people and learned a ton. Also the work life balance is the best I have ever experienced.

Cons

The only downside is that some of the corporate leadership tends to overstep in enforcing policy. The recent covid policies enforcing vaccinations and denying religious exemptions for teleworkers with no outside contact I believe was handled very poorly. The leadership caved immediately over these demands from the gov't and did not even consider standing up in support of the many individuals within the company that were going to be affected. It is in my opinion that MITRE lost many thought leaders and future thought leaders in industry due to poor management.

Pros

-Work is always changing and always fresh -Local management really cares about individual employee growth, success, and wellbeing -Sponsors/customers respect and trust us as a company and individuals -Great benefits and pay for a Florida-based job -General given autonomy to experiment, assume personal risk, and succeed in work roles with clear support lines as needed -Not for profit. As an FFRDC, MITRE is free to be unbiased and solution-driven without needing to push a product or sales pitch

Cons

-Meeting work objectives can be demanding -Can be difficult to stay plugged into the greater MITRE corporate processes and activity
