      Pushing Out Good People

      Pros

      There used to be a sense of camaraderie and a feeling that good employees and good work were valued. No longer.

      Cons

      Over the last year or 18 months, multiple reorganizations have occurred and many layers of management added. The new hires seem to have been chosen for one reason only: to make life hell for anyone who was here before them, unless those people see the writing on the wall and become willing sycophants. Vague and unclear expectations, change only for the sake of change. There have been several rounds of layoffs, and of those left, anyone suspected of sympathizing with those RIFed is bullied endlessly, perhaps in an attempt to force them to quit. (This is working...people are running for the exits, and those who haven't are looking hard.)

      Pros

      Highly intelligent employees that want to have an impact and help address challenges of significant national importance.

      Cons

      The recent crop of executive offiers posing as expert business leaders is sucking the life and morale out of the workforce. Staff are not valued and are now routinely being forced to recompete their roles. Morale has plummeted as employees constantly look over their shoulder rather than focus on their jobs. Collaboration has been replaced by territorialism. Technical experts with little or no customer domain knowledge or people skills are being hired into leadership roles. Staff development and career path are now virtually nonexistent. Staff are running for the exits.

      Pros

      Great people and great middle management. Great retirement package

      Cons

      Executive team has their head in the sand, doesn’t seem to value the long term employee who has dedicated years to towards making MITRE great. A recent RIF in Corp Ops validated just that with over the majority impacted being over the age of 45. Why hang around in today’s hot job market?
