      Pays commensurate with industry Good work life balance

      Cons

      Long time employee who sees issues of trust and integrity with senior leadership precipitated by Mitre Way maneuver 7 years ago split the organization and in the view of many staff and leaders ...has created internal power plays and shifts that are not serving the public interest ... Constantly making big changes with little justification Disconnect between senior leadership and the staff, management and customer base...pushing what Mitre sees as value versus what customers see as Mitre value...

      part reputiable and part disturbing...

      Pros

      Some very intelligent, savvy and motivated engineers with access to industry-leading technology. Ideally, an opportunity to make an impact on major, national initiatives.

      Cons

      Depending on what part of the organization within which you work, your experience may be miserable. No standards with regards to management and treatment of employees. Some people work hard, some people barely work at all -- and some people who do close to nothing - make large salaries, hold positions of high responsibility, and go completely unchallenged by the "system".

      Downhill trend with upper management leading the way

      Pros

      Some very bright people work at Mitre . Most are quite cordial and share their knowledge. The benefits are good , retirement being one of the better deals . Next is work / life balance ,, Also a con as I'll explain next.

      Cons

      I'll first address work life balance . While it is great to have flexibility with arrival and departure times , Mitre has taken this to an entirely unheard of level . It is not uncommon to see employees arrive between 1000 to 1100 hrs. I must admit these people most likely put in their time but how can you run a business this way ? Many people don't show at all .. Again, are they doing work ? You bet ,but how efficiently is the company running ? This leads to much employee strife . For instance , this person barely even comes to work or that person is in with management . The review system, P&D is not working as it was suppose to . It has been hinted that a new review method will be put in its place . This would be a very welcome change for employees and management . Management. See below.
