      Has been going downhill over the years

      Pros

      Co-workers have overall been great to work with, smart, and helpful. The overall FFRD mission spaces are impactful

      Cons

      Benefits have been declining year after year; the return to office policy was not well thought out and even more poorly implemented; upper management messaging is tone deaf and alienates employees; policy changes treat employees like children that need to be micromanaged; talented employees are leaving the company. When I first joined, the long tenure of a majority of the employees was worn as a badge of honor, now it seems that is no longer valued.

      Dysfunctional Leadership

      Pros

      Some wonderful colleagues that are brilliant and dedicated to the work that we do.

      Cons

      The executive leadership team includes dysfunctional and corrupt leaders that are out of touch with the mission and the workforce. The ELT and Officers enjoy first class flights while simulating authorizating staff layoffs. The CEO holds all employee meetings and speaks nothing about our mission or our future direction. Instead, he and his puppets talk about the great work they are doing with figuring out office space and how they are developing magical plans to improve communication across the enterprise. Sigh. This place has become a joke. The ELT continually promotes themselves with a new title every few months. The CEO even promoted a notorious bully and microagressor to a VP role. The corruption runs deep and the dysfunction even deeper.

      Pros

      As an FFRDC, MITRE serves the public interest, solving problems for a safer world. Staff at MITRE are mission-oriented, collaborative, and intelligent. The company supports work-life balance within its culture and with benefits. The reimbursement for advanced degrees is substantial.

      Cons

      People looking for a fast-paced environment with rapid advancement, annual bonuses, or stock options need not apply.
