Pros

I've worked on interesting projects with some really great people.

Cons

MITRE's executive team has very few - if any - real leaders. They're woefully inept at inspiring and supporting the employees (in fact, they come across as dismissive and mean-spirited), and given how much MITRE has cut back in terms of benefits in recent years it seems like they're not particularly good financial stewards either.

Pros

Meaningful Work, Nice Facilities, Good Worker Bees

Cons

Leaders lack the necessary skills in empowering, appreciating, and fostering the growth of their staff. They exhibit an unwarranted sense of superiority in their roles and are unwilling to entertain any suggestions for improvement, either for themselves or the organization. The prevailing mindset is to conform to their directives as the sole means of survival in that environment. If you seek to make a meaningful impact, it is advisable to explore opportunities in a different organization.

Pros

- Working with an exceptionally talented technical staff - Mac laptops are offered, which can improve productivity

Cons

- There is an expectation that technical staff search to find new projects they can split their time on to remain fully allocated. If you encounter difficulty doing this then you either get poor assignments or pushed out as there would not be enough assigned work. Those working at remote site locations outside of the main two campuses in Bedford and McLean are likely to encounter more challenges. To mitigate this con, consider starting your MITRE career at one of the two campus locations at least for the first year. - Significant and impactful erosion of benefits during the past year (notably, a benefit was taken away within 3 weeks of starting which partially formed the basis of selecting MITRE) - Remote work policy changed from 1-day/week in the office to 3 or 4-days/week in the office over the past year; however, there are simply not enough offices to accomodate the influx of people. This leads to double or tripling up on offices, which can tank productivity if you're not able to maintain concentration
