Smells fishy

Pros

Flexible work schedule, little/no micromanagement & results based. Government sponsors happy with individual employees, but are miffed by MITRE leadership. Generally decent coworkers. Pretty stable employment.

Cons

Benefits are eroding faster than you can blink an eye. Executive leadership hired a consultant and became an ageist company right out of the MBA/Honeywell playbook. New policies and benefits are geared towards ridding the corporation of older, more expensive employees. Constant lies from executive leadership about inflation, benefits reduction, employee costs, benefits costs, and company stability. Very political "non profit", massive mismanagement of money.

Pros

Good benefits, nice facilities, interesting people to work with.

Cons

Worst management I’ve ever experienced. It didn’t use to be like this. Management doesn’t have a clue about what’s happening on projects outside their own. They don’t even know what individuals do or who they work for, as evidenced around review time. They need employees to write their own job descriptions and tell them who they work for. This is usually the first time they find out. This is all the way down to the group leader, who only “manages” 3 to 4 people. If an individual’s project ends, or downsized (often without notice) management won’t lift a finger to help rather they tell is that we need to find our own project. Information sharing is poor or non existent.

Pros

Many opportunities for technically excellent people to build a career around contributing solutions to meaningful problems.

Cons

The CEO's erratic behavior has created a dysfunctional environment and a complete meltdown of employee relations. Gallows humor jokes about the Jason Providakes' adversarial stance against employees pervade meetings and communications platforms. He's lost the confidence and the respect of a significant majority of the company.
