Mostly awesome company

Pros

MITRE cares about it's employees, unlike many other defense type contractors. As a non-profit they are able to do the right thing, and not just what makes the most money.

Cons

While they almost always guarantee work on a project, you may just hate the project you get put on. There are great ones, and bad ones.

Pros

Collaborative work environment, great opportunities to expand technical depth

Cons

Management is reluctant to communicate bad news or strategic direction. If you aren't conventionally technical, then it becomes difficult to find managers who will advocate for your career growth
